Obama Courts Irish Votes (Edited)

The New York Times takes a look at Brack Obama's visit with Irish-American voters in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Lest any of you question his Irish bona fides:
Mr. Obama left the stage with a joke about how there is an apostrophe in his name _ that would make it O’Bama — and said his first name was really Baragh, which he pronounced with a thick brogue. “It’s actually an old Celtic name,” he said.

Editorial Note: Original editotial comment has been removed per suggestion of commentary. This blogger meant no offense to Mr. McCain. This blogger simply cannot find any news articles about him interacting with the Irish community.

Chris, you're walking a fine line here. There are many fine things that could be said about John McCain but if we start down this road the website could turn into a political battleground which I feel would not be a good thing. We all have an opinion but this site is not really the proper venue to trade barbs. The first part of the blog I have no problem with; I thought it was "funny". Bill

Bill:

Although I think a little lighthearted humor - even if it is political - is not necessarily inappropriate - I understand your concerns and have removed the passage.
