Here's Diane Byrnes' Echoes of Erin Schedule

Hello Friends,

Many things are going to be happening over the next month with Echoes of Erin and I thought you might like a ‘Heads Up’. I have a couple of very interesting guests coming in to WEDO Studio and I’ll have two very interesting telephone interviews the following two weeks.

May 17 – Guest in studio is Paul Evans with AOH St. Patrick Division 4 in the North Hills. Paul will be talking with us about AOH and LAOH Divisions 4’s Day of Irish Entertainment with Ballad Singer, Mike Gallagher and The Irish Lads who will be the headliner at the event. The event takes place on Saturday, June 13th at the Croatian Center / Schitizen Park off Babcock Blvd in Millvale. The Ireland Report will come to us from County Allegheny with a round up by myself. Program # 1104

May 24 – Guest in studio is Michael Bartley, Managing Editor with WQED. Michael is a pretty steady listener to the program and we will have a broad array of topics to discuss. Michael presents so many interesting programs on WQED, I fear we might run out of time discussing some of them. The Ireland Report should come to us from Belfast, with Mairtin O’Muilleoir. Program # 1105

May 31 – Telephone Interview with Fil Campbell, originally from County Fermanagh now living in County Down. Fil Campbell devised, wrote and presented a six part series on RTE entitled “SONGBIRDS, The First Ladies of Irish Song”. This program celebrates the lives and songs of Bridie Gallagher, Delia Murphy, Margaret Barry, Mary O’Hara, and Ruby Murray – songs from the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. I was so impressed with what I saw on the DVD and I think you too will really enjoy our conversation with Fil. She has done a marvelous job! The Ireland Report should come to us from Enniskillen, County Fermanagh with Davy Kettyles. Program # 1106

June 7 – Telephone Interview with Tommy Boyle with The Irish Lads out of Scranton, PA. It has been over 20 years since The Lads last performed in Pittsburgh. They will be here on Saturday, June 13th for AOH Division 4’s Day of Irish Entertainment. The Ireland Report will come to us from Donegal with Patricia Sharkey. Program # 1107

So as you can see, these will be unique conversations and I sincerely hope you can join in listening. Plus sometime over the next few weeks, I’ll have a marvelous announcement that I am sure will delight you; at least I hope so.

And of course, if you find you are unavailable to listen for any reason, you can tune in ‘online’ at www.wedo810.com click on Program Guide, scroll down the page to Echoes of Erin and download any of the programs. These program numbers are noted above.

Slán,

Diane Byrnes
